Lord Mayor Nick Reece has announced that Melbourne City Councillor Roshena Campbell will be his Deputy Lord Mayor candidate for the upcoming local council election in October.
Moving to Melbourne as a university student, Roshena made the city her home and has spent her entire adult life working in it.
Roshena is a barrister who has acted in some of Victoria’s most significant litigation, a number of Royal Commissions including the Black Saturday Bushfires and also provided pro bono legal services.
Roshena has served as a member of the City of Melbourne council for the past four years. She has always been a strong voice for residents and traders and never hesitates to stand up for them. She has a track record of delivery including:
- Melbourne Money which helped our hospitality industry to bounce back after COVID, bringing life back to our city and pumping almost $100 million into our local economy
- A major events calendar that brings millions of people to our city, supports local businesses and has helped cement our reputation as the events capital of the nation
- Establishing Invest Melbourne, which is making Melbourne the easiest place to start and grow a business by cutting red tape
- Fighting to keep immunisations free for visa holders and families arriving in Australia from overseas
- A Council budget that is back in surplus, which means we can keep investing in what matters to residents and businesses
Nick and Roshena have worked closely together over the past four years, after running on the same ticket in the 2020 Council elections.
