I am proud to confirm that I will be a candidate for Lord Mayor of Melbourne at the upcoming election in October 2024.
Melbourne is a great place to live and work – it is the best and fairest city in the world.
I believe that as Lord Mayor and with my energy and hard work, we can make it even better and even fairer.
That’s why, if re-elected as Lord Mayor in October, I will continue working hard to tackle the big issues facing our city, including:
- A Cleaner, Safer, Greener City – From rapid response cleaning teams to an expanded CCTV network, we’ve done a lot to make the city feel welcoming and deal with any issues quickly. As Lord Mayor I will continue this work, and keep our streets safe for everyone. I will expand and enhance the parks and gardens that Melbourne is famous for.
- Housing – Finding an affordable, secure place to live shouldn’t be out of reach for the essential workers who keep our city moving. As Lord Mayor I will explore every option to increase housing supply in our growth areas and provide more support and services for those sleeping rough.
- We Love Melbourne – Melbourne isn’t called the events capital of Australia for nothing. There is always so much going on – but that doesn’t just happen by accident. As Lord Mayor I'll dial up the Melbourne vibe with more events, festivals and local markets – as well as supporting the many diverse communities who contribute so much to our city.
- Better for Business – From small traders to global headquarters, fine dining to local designers – I want Melbourne to be a great place to do business. Our businesses services, retail and hospitality industries are world-class, and business is the beating heart of our city. As Lord Mayor, I will make it easier for business to get ahead. Business will always have a supporter in me.
All my life, I have sought to be actively engaged in public service to help others.
As a young man, I was one of the original Mo Bros behind Movember, which empowers men to take charge of their own health. I was also an early director of The Big Issue which gives homeless and vulnerable people the means to better their own lives.
As a councillor and Deputy Lord Mayor, I was part of the team that brought the city’s budget back into surplus so we can keep investing in what matters for the people of Melbourne.
This is the experience and track record I bring to the role of Lord Mayor.
Like many people, I came to Melbourne from another country. In some ways, it means I value even more how special Melbourne is. Today I am proud to live in the City of Melbourne and to be raising my family here.
My vow is to everyone who makes this city great – residents, ratepayers and businesses. I will be a hands-on Lord Mayor. I love fixing things, solving problems, making decisions and making things happen.
I will work every day to make your lives better.
I am asking the people of Melbourne to Pick Nick in October because as Lord Mayor, I will be someone who Gets Good Done.
