Lord Mayor Nick Reece today unveiled his team of candidates for the upcoming City of Melbourne Council elections in October 2024, who have the experience and energy to get good done for the people of Melbourne.
The team, composed of seven accomplished and dedicated individuals, brings together a wealth of experience, diversity, and a shared commitment to making every part of Melbourne an even better and fairer city for all its residents.
Joining the Team Nick Reece ticket for the City of Melbourne Council election are:
- Mark Scott: A small business leader and entrepreneur who co-founded Ripe Cheese in 2019 at Queen Vic Market.
- Lisa Teh: A digital entrepreneur and marketing expert known for her innovative approach to problem-solving and her passion for supporting small businesses.
- Hamdi Ali: A proud Carlton resident, family man, and community organiser, who has spent the last 12 years involved in Melbourne’s community work, including running the Carlton Public Housing Estates Residents Association.
- Jannine Pattison: A resident of the City of Melbourne for 18 years, Jannine is the deputy president and founding member of Southbank3006, a residents’ group advocating for Southbank’s livability and safety.
- Kevin Louey: A seasoned council member with extensive experience in small business local government and community engagement.
- Simone Hartley-Keane: An experienced professional who has raised her family in Kensington, with a passion for developing people and supporting her community.

- Slashing power bills by creating a community-led bulk purchasing scheme for renewable energy
- Delivering 4000 new homes by converting CBD offices into apartments to ease the housing crisis
- Reduce pool entry to just $2, teach our kids to swim for free, and support our pets and their families by making pet registration free
- Improve city safety with new 24/7 City Safety Officers, better lighting, and more security cameras
- Fight to expand the free tram zone to our major tourism destinations and the University of Melbourne

Hamdi Ali
Hamdi is a proud Carlton resident, family man, and community organiser. Originally from the Horn of Africa, Hamdi has spent the last 12 years actively involved in Melbourne’s community work, including running the Carlton Public Housing Estates Residents Association. He has led initiatives such as providing recycled computers to residents and co-founding a free legal advice service for the community. Hamdi also hosts a weekly Somali-language radio show on 3CR Community Radio. His passion for digital access, community empowerment, and public discourse drives him to get good done for all residents of Melbourne.
Simone Hartley-Keane
Simone has raised her family in Kensington over the past 25 years and cherishes its unique community spirit and culture. An experienced businessperson, she has worked with both corporates and small businesses to achieve success through strong people-focused initiatives. Her commitment to the local community shines through her roles with Kensington Neighbourhood House and the Kensington Childcare Centre (KCCC). Kevin Louey
Kevin was elected as a councilor for the City of Melbourne first in 2012, with a strong focus on supporting small businesses. With a diverse background in business, government, and community sectors, Kevin has also served as Chief of Staff to former Lord Mayor John So. He is a passionate advocate for small businesses and plays a key role in activating the city to boost visitation. Jannine Pattison
A resident of the City of Melbourne for 18 years, Jannine is the deputy president and founding member of Southbank3006, a residents’ group advocating for Southbank’s livability and safety. Mark Scott
Mark has called Melbourne home for nearly his entire life.
